The Photo

Framed in old pine, a scene from years ago, two soul mates fishing, hands in pockets. Passing on wisdom, the aged man watching a boy. With yachts gently rocking to and fro all attention cast on rippling water. The boy has a line, is catching crabs and passing time. They cant see me watching. I have been here, looking at them, for so many years, some have been dreamy days, water sparkling sunny times. I could have crept up behind and given my game away, but, still and quiet I gaze, remembering sunny days. The youth now a man, and the wise man much older. Memories cast wondrous light on the darkest times, reminiscences clearing my haze. And that old man and youth will live on forever, framed as they are in old pine. Gently rocking boats, locked into a picture with nowhere to go, but perfecting a time and place, filling a space. Sweet sunny days of fishing for crabs.
